EVENT: Eco-Congregation Edinburgh Network Meeting
Date of Event:
Monday, 26 October, 2009Venue:
St John’s Church Hall, Princes Street, EdinburghTime :
7.30pmThe theme for the evening is: an Awards Workshop.
Eco-Congregation Awards are designed to recognise achievement and affirm good practice that promotes/contributes to sustainability and witnesses to the importance of caring for creation. In recent months they have had many enquiries from churches about how to apply for awards. On top of this, they have received applications from churches seeking to achieve a third award. This has forced them to look at the award system again, set clear criteria for a third award and ensure the criteria for the first and second awards are compatible.
Over the autumn / winter period they are therefore offering an Award Workshop to all networks. These workshops will have something to offer everyone, no matter what stage you are at with your eco-congregation work:
- If you are only beginning to think about registering or have just done so – the workshop will explain why they have an award system and what to aim for.
- If you have been registered for some time and are thinking about applying for an award, it will help you find out what you need to do to apply and how the award is assessed.
- If you already have an award – find out what to do next - and could you help them by becoming an award assessor?
Dr Sheena Wurthmann, an experienced award assessor, member of Netherlee Church in Glasgow and of the Eco-Congregation Scotland Steering Group, and Margaret Warnock will be working together to deliver the workshop.
