Peak oil and climate change have rapidly moved up in people’s awareness in recent years, but often, particularly in relation to peak oil (the point in time when the maximum rate of global petroleum extraction is reached, after which the rate of production enters terminal decline), solutions tend to be thin on the ground. Since its initial emergence in Kinsale in 2005, the Transition idea has spread virally across the UK and increasingly further afield, serving as a catalyst for community-led responses to these twin challenges. The film was created using footage contributed by Transition Initiatives from around the world.

After the screening, members of Transition groups in Edinburgh will lead an informal discussion to explore people's reaction to the issues raised in the film, and describe some positive local initiatives.
