CONFERENCE: ‘Community and Sustainable Energy’

Date of Event:
Saturday, 9 May, 2009
Venue:
The Prentice Centre, 1 Granton Mains Avenue, off West Granton Road, Edinburgh
Time :
9:45am to 12:45pm

Organised by Edinburgh Community Energy Co-operative -  a locally-based not-for-profit organisation set up to promote community involvement in sustainable and renewable energy in Edinburgh.

The Co-op’s first project has been a study into the possibilities for promoting a community and sustainable energy scheme in North Edinburgh. This study has now been completed, and this conference will feature a presentation of the report from the consultants who have undertaken the study. The study, which has been carried out in conjunction with Waterfront Edinburgh Limited, has looked at a wide range of options for renewable and low carbon energy in the area.

The conference will also hear about examples of other projects elsewhere in Edinburgh and Scotland where local communities are considering the possibility of setting up renewable and/or sustainable energy projects in their own areas. There will also be information about some of the grants or assistance available to help with such projects.

This will be a good opportunity to find out more about these ideas, and network with others interested in this area.

The conference venue is: The Prentice Centre, 1 Granton Mains Avenue, off West Granton Road, Edinburgh (opposite new Telford College). Buses 8,14,16,32,38,42,47,X47 run nearby.
